The international volleyball federation FIVB uses Planet Positive Sport to score how sustainable its events are. FIVB's version of the platform runs at fivb.planet-positive-sport.com. JT Digital built the whole platform. We wrote its first code on 16 March, and it was up and running 63 days later.

Of everything we built this year, I find Planet Positive Sport the most interesting. The next post goes through it properly, and these are the parts I would start with.
Reports built from one frozen snapshot. When an admin clicks Generate, the event's numbers are frozen into a record that later edits cannot touch. The public web page, a PDF and a single HTML file with every photo inside are all built from that one record. The server draws all nine charts itself, so the PDF runs no script and always prints complete.
A questionnaire FIVB changes without a developer. Its 623 questions in 14 categories live in an editor in the browser. Behind the answers sit 416 emission factors, the numbers that turn litres of diesel or a night in a hotel into kilograms of CO2. An edited questionnaire goes live over running events only after 70 checks.
A hundredth of a point. An event qualifies for certification at 2.61 out of 5. The old rule rounded at three different steps and could turn a 2.60 into a 2.61, so scores now keep full precision and are rounded once, at the end. A test shows the difference.
AI that is allowed to leave a goal out. A language model on servers we run links each of the committee's objectives to up to three of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. When it is unsure, it can leave a goal out. Code checks every answer, and a person reviews the draft before anything is published.
Suppliers without accounts. Hotels, caterers and transport firms sent those 199 submissions through a link in an email, and none of them had to sign up. An independent expert then reviews each event and signs it off one category at a time.
The Planet Positive Sport film. The red dot turns into the decimal point of 2.61.
